“I love all of you… especially you”
Posy Kate ( 5 years old)
These words are so dearly treasured. They’ve been safely stashed away in my heart to be easily accessed on difficult days. In fact, they were spoken over me on a difficult day. A day when I’d not been the mother my heart desired, a day when I was too short-tempered, too grumpy, and too impatient.
At the moment when I was *finally* saying goodnight to my children, my sweet Posy looked at me – really looked at me – and, despite all of my failures of the day, she said, “I love all of you… especially you”.
When I was alone, I meditated on these words. All of me. Especially me. I was at once reminded of the never-ending, never failing, all-encompassing love of God. In my weakness, my daughter helped me to turn my eyes and heart heavenward, to remember His great love. God sees me. He knows me. All of me. Especially me. And yet, He still loves me.
“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?”Psalms 8:3-4
